Collage and Other Paper Magic

Saturday, August 3 & Sunday, August 4 | 10AM – 4PM

Explore the many ways of creating beautiful art objects with paper with Gabrielle Dietzel and Suzanne Rexford Winston. We will cut it, rip it, stick it, glue it, paste it, sew it and fold it— to make collages, accordion books, paper bowls, boxes, writing pads, and cards. Printed, handmade and fibrous papers, paste papers and magazines will be available for all to use. Come learn a few tricks of the trade, useful tools, and good studio practice. Bring photographs, poems or other items you may want to include in a small handmade book.

Gabrielle Dietzel, M.Ed,  has made books, collages and paper objects since childhood. In recent years, her collages have become predominantly three-dimensional, layered in found boxes or reconstructed frames to explore light and shadows. Her work has been shown in several one-person and group exhibitions in Vermont. Gabrielle’s “Bird Boxes” were exhibited at the Highland Center in July/August 2023. 

Suzanne Rexford-Winston is an art maker and educator living in Central Vermont. She works in a variety of mediums, currently focused on collage and block printing, and is teaching small group workshops from her home in addition to more public venues.

She has shown work around Central Vermont for many years. Suzanne earned an M.Ed in art education from Lesley College ((now University).
