Greenwood: The Musical

Ira Karp is back! Ira, a Greensboro teenager with Down Syndrome, is also a talented director and performer. Last summer he delighted audiences with his playful and colorful  “The Honey Let’s Go Home Circus”. This year, he and his crew  “Mind/Life Theater Productions” are proud to present “Greenwood: The Musical”. Greenwood is the name of a farm on top of a hill, and it tells the story of its inhabitants: Lucy and Edmund of Narnia; their secretary Rockface; pregnant farm helper Rosemary and husband John Piper; the ambulance driver Balthazar and Dr. Scrubb. Cows are milked, cheese made, babies born, holidays celebrated, ambulances rescue people– a musical soap opera both mundane and magical, all told in Ira’s quirky and exuberant voice, with song and dance numbers inspired by nursery rhymes, Bread and Puppet shows, Broadway musicals, traditional folk songs and pop song hits.
