The Lullaby Project, a project of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, pairs parents and caregivers with professional artists to write and sing personal lullabies for their babies, supporting maternal health, aiding childhood development, and strengthening the bond between parent and child. The Vermont Network partnered with the Vermont Lullaby Project, Scrag Mountain Music and Writers for Recovery, and adapted the approach to include survivors as well as the advocates, anyone with close relationships with children, to engage in a spacious, generative process rooted in love for the children. They originally worked with two groups of survivors, women in the community and women in a correctional facility eventually adding a group for queer youth and their families. In culmination of last season’s Lullaby Project initiative, the community is invited to come together to hear these special new lullabies created in our community.
Scrag Mountain Music was pleased to partner, for the past three years, with Writers for Recovery, Healing Together Project of the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and advocacy partners Umbrella, Inc., Voices Against Violence, Outright Vermont, Kids-A-Part (a program of LUND), and DIVAS (a program of The Network) to bring this important program to individuals in our community.
This concert is free and open to all. Reservations are appreciated. Reception following the performance.
