What makes a family a family? At the Vermont Institute of Natural Science our family grows and
evolves just like yours does. Some join our family for a short time, others stay for a lifetime. All
members of the VINS family are cared for with kind attention and respect at our VINS home in
Quechee, VT. When possible, it is our hope to return every raptor to their home in the wild. Until
then, they are cared for by our dedicated staff. Join the Vermont Department for Children & Families
and VINS and learn about these amazing raptors!

JOIN US FOR A FUN, INFORMATIVE, AND FREE EXPLORATION of the lives of falcons, hawks, owls, and
even some fabulous reptiles, as they provide the lens through which we reflect on the many ways the
VINS family has evolved. You will learn about orphaned and injured birds as well as all the defining
characteristics that make a bird a raptor and how they have adapted for life as a predator on the
wing. We’ll share touchable artifacts and educational materials to support your experience and
understanding of foster care — both in the VINS family, and possibly, your own.
