“Heartwood’s performance of ‘The Well Tree’ absolutely laid me bare. Thank you so much for creating an experience of such beauty, depth, imagination, truth, joy.”
Heartwood presents: The Well Tree, a unique and enchanting weaving of song and storytelling. Join Heartwood for an all-ages, participatory musical journey- illustrated with a ‘crankie’ – an illuminated hand-cranked scroll made by papercut artist Jennifer Jones. The three members of Heartwood – Heidi Wilson, Willy Clemetson, and Sarina Partridge – are the actors, musicians and crew that runs the crankie.
Bring your parents, bring your children, and let your bodies be filled with the magic of lush vocal harmony and live storytelling!
The Well Tree is an original ‘singing story’ about wild journeying and remembering kinship — the tale of a young woman moving beyond the fog of isolation and shame to meet songbirds, snails and ancient trees as she travels through these unraveling times, finding her way home. Heartwood sweeps audiences into a timeless experience, one that is rich with puppetry, banjo, guitar, fiddle, exquisite papercut imagery, and sweet harmony singing.
About Heartwood:
Heartwood is a trio of singers and instrumentalists creating new music born from time in wild places. Sarina Partridge, Willy Clemetson, and Heidi Wilson first came together as a trio in 2021 during a musical intensive on Rabbit Island, a remote 91 acre island in Lake Superior, where the inspiration for this musical was born!
