Painting Workshop with Susan Wahlrab

Saturday, June 8 & Sunday, June 9 | 10:00AM – 4:00PM

Highland Center for the Arts is thrilled to host the celebrated watercolor artist Susan Wahlrab for a two-day Color of Nature workshop. Connect intimately to the natural world by closely observing the intricacies of color with Susi’s expert guidance. Learn about hue and value by creating a unique mosaic inspired by the natural world .

This workshop is truly transformational for all levels of experience—from novice to professional. The process drops you into a more present, conscious awareness. The journey of quieting the mind, and slowing down, not only awakens our vision to the subtle beauty of Nature but it brings us back to our core of health and well being—for truly, the essence in us is Nature. And it is just plain FUN!

Susi Wahlrab has been a professional artist for over 40 years. She has taught Art at Brown University, Framingham State College and Maine College of Art, to name a few. Susi has spent a lifetime immersed in the nuance of the Natural World. She is an advanced Yoga and Ayurvedic instructor and a certified Flower Essence Practitioner. I just spent two fabulous days immersing myself in the Color of Nature with Susi Wahlrab, a very skilled and inspiring teacher. I’ve been a professional artist all my life but not one for whom color comes easily. I looked forward to this weekend’s workshop as a way to re-energize and expand my knowledge of color. I was not disappointed!

What a great workshop and fun day! Not only an incredible artist but a skilled teacher, Susi has that unique ability to meet each of us wherever we happen to be on our artistic journey.  I have absolutely no art background or artistic skills, and yet, by the end of the workshop, I felt I had a better understanding of how to ‘see’ the patterns and colors of nature that infuse the world around us, and how to express that in a visual artistic form. For me, this workshop was about truly looking and seeing nature, and then recreating those patterns into our artistic expression. My favorite part of the day was seeing each person’s finished ‘work of art’, because each creation was so different and so beautiful.
