Welcome to Circus Club at The Highland Center for the Arts! This warm and inclusive gathering, open to circus performers, enthusiasts, and novices, invites you to explore the magic of the circus through engaging discussions, captivating films, and introductory activities like juggling, handstands, stretching and object manipulation. Connect with fellow circus enthusiasts, share inspiring stories and skills, and even learn a few new tricks in a supportive environment. Whether you’re aiming to improve your balance, coordination, or simply looking to make new friends, our Circus Club is your place to explore. Join us and keep the spirit of the circus alive in our community!

Fleeky Flanco and Ashes Mattos will facilitate this gathering. They have run several circus collectives over the years and are now building out their new Circus home in Greensboro Bend.

A professional handbalancer originally from Washington, D.C., Fleeky brings a wealth of experience from his career touring with Wintergarten in Germany. He credits so many of his skills to his training with master practitioners and coaches, including Master Coach Xia Kemin, Mongolian National Treasure Serchmaa Byambaa, and Acrobatic Visionary Dominik Wyss. As a co-founder of Circus Automatic and former Artistic Director of his circus school in San Francisco, Fleeky is excited to share his passion and skills with you.

Ashes is a multi-hyphenate artist, puppeteer, and performance director. She has produced and directed numerous pieces in the United States and in Europe. She acted as director in circus shows with San Francisco underground legends like Jamie Dewolf and Joyce Lee, performed alongside Christine and the Queens, and was involved in the creation of the first permanent haunted house in Paris, France. She has spent many late nights letting various circus performers vent about how hard it is to be so awesome and would love to hear your story, too. Ashes currently serves as the Experience Design Director at the HCA.

Come and let us support you on your circus journey!
