Come sing with us!
In preparation for the upcoming solar eclipse, participants will learn and sing hymns to the sun, mostly from the Lithuania. Sutartines are an incredibly beautiful pre-Christian tradition of group singing which are deeply rooted in the seasonal cycles of the natural world, and infused with imagery of nature and ancient gods. The songs are simple and repetitive, and we will learn easy circle dances to accompany them. All are welcome. No fee, donations appreciated.
Led by singer/folklorist/farmer Maria Schumann of Greensboro.
On the day of the eclipse, participants are welcome and encouraged to join in an eclipse ritual and participatory performance on the Bread and Puppet fields in Glover, VT on Monday April 8th.
