Artist Statement

Harlan Mack is a Rural Multidisciplinary Artist, living and working in Johnson, VT. Harlan works narratively through painting, sculpture, oral narrative, and poetry as well. Harlans Narratives are built around a fictitious future that contemplates themes related to life’s experience and pieces of life yet to be arranged.

“I work backwards. So I expect it to connect later. And I’m kind of looking forward to seeing how that translates into the entire body of my work because that’s one of the benefits of working backwards and being comfortable with it: Not having any expectations from whatever it is that I’m making.”
