I have no art degree, but one in geography from the University of Hawaii instead provided life experiences ranging from rare native plant mapping in the Hawaiian islands, assisting with orangutan research in Borneo, office administration in Kathmandu and work with endangered bird propagation in Volcano, Hawaii.  These experiences and more provided enough artistic inspiration to last a lifetime. I have exhibited and sold my work throughout the region and beyond, including commissions for commercial promotional materials.  I am also the author and illustrator of the children’s book, Will You Be My Friend?

 I am student of the natural world, and I interpret it mostly in an impressionistic/abstracted way, but I also enjoy the challenge and discipline of realistic figure drawing and portraiture.  Watercolor, charcoal and graphite, soft pastels, and most recently sumi ink are my favorite mediums.
